My Husband and I enjoy going to Elke's Diner
For Lunch.
Elke has owned this business for many years. The building is old, yes it needs some repairs... the food is fresh, homemade, and delicious. Elke does not own the Building. The staff is friendly, the food is good and I always look forward to our next lunch at Elke's -

Stopped in to try out a local shop and sadly we were not impressed. The chocolate milk tasted like nesquik, my $6.25 BLT was measly compared to our other favorite local diners, and his country fried steak looked/tasted like it was purchased from the frozen section at Save-A-Lot. Our first impression was -- why is their decor strictly Christmas theme in July? Looks like it could use some deep cleaning as well. Wah!

To look at this place you might think it isn't much. But the charm of this place is the regulars that hang out there. Sure the food is good (like your moms food) but what I really like all the "guys" who hang out there every morning.
My father in law takes the wife and I here for breakfast when we are visiting in West Virginia. I love to listen to the old-timers stories and the banter of the group every time we go.
The prices of the food cannot be beat and it is definitely better than a chain restaurant. -

This is a charming diner in Vienna, West Virginia. I love to go there with my parents when I am visiting because it is where my dad often frequents with his friends. When we walk in the door it is kind of like Cheers where everyone knows your name.
There are a few German items on the menu as well because the owner is from Germany. The food is mom and pop and very reasonably priced. Their desserts are to die for!
Make sure you get there before 3 as they only serve breakfast and lunch! -

Elke's Diner is just a diner. I was told that there was good German food here and since I lived in Austria for a time, I thought I would check it out. There was virtually no German food on the menu. It was all regular diner food. I finally settled on Wiener schnitzel and it was mediocre. I was hoping for good German food and did not get it. This is not the worst place to eat in town, but I wouldn't go out of my way for a meal here.
